Me 410A2 of 9/ZG1, Germany, 1944.

This aircraft had served with ZG1 when they operated against the allies from Gerbini, Sicily. In early 1944 they were recalled to Germany for anti-bomber duties against the American "Heavies". The Me 410 scored some notable successes on occasion, but fared badly against escorted bombers and the surviving crews were eventually assigned to other units, most re-training to fly single-seat fighters. The white fuselage band is most likely a leftover from the unit's time in the Mediterranean rather than a "Reich Defence Band".

*New Version, with 3dz modifications by Serb and GhostBoy

I have modified Serb's updated 3DZ to non-mirror the fuselage sides, and made a couple of minor modifications to the mapping of the spinners and the swastika. I enclose a blank .pcx for those of you who wish to use it; but be warned, there are no spare pixcels in the remapped area... in fact you need to leave at least a one pixcel space between any codes you add and the edge of the re-mapped fuselage section. Anyway, I'm sure you'll find out. Both the blank pcx and the included skin are based on the EAW originals but certain parts - especially the revised cockpit framing - were stolen from Serb's Me 410B-2/U2/R2 of Erg. Gruppe KG 51 (Jagd), which is still available at Serb's EAW Flightline.

I hope you enjoy it. Comments etc. welcome via the SimHQ forum.

Included below is an exerpt from Serb's original readme file which detail his changes, and his instructions are still relevant.

**Instructions**
In order to code for the new external cockpit, crew placement, antenna and new swastika, two additional files are required. These are Pm410f.3dz and Pm410g.3dz, which are both included in this package. Unzip the files, then drag and drop all *.tpc and *.3dz files into your European Air War directory. To return to the default skin, move the same files out of the EAW directory.
